Backup

Why should you make a copy of the game save? Because some modifications can interfere with your save game, and after removing them, your save game may break and you won’t be able to use it anymore.
How to download and install mods
To install mods, you need a plugin that loads game plugins and mods that you can download from Nexus Mods. To install the mods, follow a few simple steps:
- Download BepInEX
- Extract the archive to a separate folder (do not extract to the game folder)
- Move the files from BepInExPack to the game folder (game default path for Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sons Of The Forest)
- Start the game so that BepInEx can create the necessary files and folder for the mod – after a while, you can exit the game
- Now you can upload mods (.dll files) to the BepInEx\Plugins folder
